The mum goes off leaving the babies to explore the garden. They have such attitude if you get too close. Puffing themselves up and squeaking. They still have the odd white spine.
I have never known my garden to be so free from slugs and snails. I think that is why the vegetables are doing so well.
Ian also managed to get a picture of some spotted woodpeckers that visits us. Both the male and female were around and brought their baby. It was fed on peanuts which it loved and spent quite a while pecking at our plum tree bark for grubs

Gorgeous pictures! I've never seen more then one woodpecker at a time, and never seen one on a feeder. It must be amazing to get them in your garden!
I love hedgermahogins. Don't always see 'ours' but do see his poo on the lawn! LOL!
Yes, We also have the rather messy signs left in the garden. I love to sit in the garden at night and just take in the sounds that they make snuffling in the borders. I had one baby sit on my foot last year! They seem to have gone at the moment but hope the mother will be back with a new family next year.
